Student Organizations

Supporting student organizations helps create meaningful opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom. Music Department

Supporting the Music Department helps our students and faculty continue creating the powerful performances and meaningful works that define the BHSU music experience. Music programs require ongoing investment in instruments, equipment, technology, and resources to give students the tools they need to learn, grow, and perform at their best. Our dedicated Friends of Music group plays a vital role in championing these needs through volunteer support and fundraising efforts. In addition, the new Music Excellence Fund—now surpassing $100,000—provides essential backing for student opportunities, program enhancements, and high-quality productions. Your gift helps ensure that our musicians have the resources, inspiration, and support to achieve excellence both on stage and in the classroom.
Scholarships for Veterans​

Once again, Black Hills State University is recognized as a veteran-friendly institution, committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for military service members, veterans, and their families. Through our Veterans Affairs office, we assist with navigating VA benefits, military tuition assistance, and academic credit for military training.
​
Active military students may qualify for a tuition reduction of $250 per credit hour for undergraduate classes and $300 per credit hour for graduate classes.
​
In partnership with the BHSU Foundation, our “Scholarships for Veterans” fundraising initiative—including our annual Jacket Ride event—helps provide critical financial support to those who served our country and are now pursuing new opportunities through education at BHSU. To contribute, click Donate Now and specify your gift is directed to “Scholarships for Veterans.” Your donation, combined with funds raised during the Jacket Ride, will help ensure those who served have access to the education and support they deserve.
